Heat networks relief
You can get business rate relief if your property is only used or mainly used as a ‘heat network’.
A heat network supplies heating or cooling to other properties from a central source. This means that these properties do not need to use boilers or electric heaters in each building.
To be eligible for heat networks relief, the property must:
- be only or mainly used as a heat work
- supply heating and cooling to other properties – for example, public buildings, shops, offices, hospitals, universities or homes
- expect to take it's energy from a low carbon source for the next 12 months – this source can be on the property or on another property
