Bournville
Between 3 June and 2 July 2023, we ran a consultation on a proposed layout option for this area. We received over 1,200 responses to the online survey and held two very well attended drop-in sessions.
There was a mixed response to the various proposals consulted on. There was support for the aims and principles of the project, with 46% of respondents expressing positive sentiments, compared to 43% expressing negative sentiments.

There is a need for further engagement with residents, businesses, and other groups to refine these proposals or develop alternative options. Over the coming months, we will work to facilitate further meetings and discussions with residents and other stakeholders to develop ideas for a revised scheme.

The Experimental Traffic Regulation Orders (ETROs) for these were made permanent on 11 April 2022. Objections made to the ETROs were reviewed in line with usual procedures and cabinet member approval was received, in anticipation of a wider scheme being developed.
We are now developing the programme for Tranche 2. We carried out initial engagement throughout August and September 2022. This consisted of a number of informal drop-in sessions around Bournville to gain insights into the issues that residents and businesses would like to be considered as part of the concept design.
It is important to emphasise how Places for People aims to encourage individuals to reconsider their mode of transport for those shorter journeys within their local area. Bournville has three railway stations nearby (Bournville, Kings Norton and Selly Oak), as well as key bus routes to the city centre, Worcester, West Bromwich and more.
