Improving local transport networks
We have been working with Transport for Wst Midlands and other authorities to look at how we can improve local transport networks to maximise the benefits of HS2. This includes access to the stations and the jobs and development opportunities that HS2 will create in the city and the wider region.
The work has looked at all modes from walking and cycling to rail improvements and everything in between.
The HS2 Connectivity Programme ensures the benefits from HS2 are spread as far as possible across the region, enabling existing businesses to expand and providing opportunities to new businesses.
More locally we’ve been working to ensure the appropriate strategies and plans incorporate the vision for HS2, including the Birmingham Development Plan, Birmingham Curzon HS2 Draft Masterplan and also proposals for Washwood Heath.
Watch HS2’s webinar on designing Curzon Street Station on Youtube. Planning experts discuss the process of designing the new station, including what factors were considered during the development process and what challenges the team have overcome.
