Keeping safe, well and warm
Download the keeping safe, well and warm presentation
This webinar provides a brief overview of the importance of keeping safe, well and warm as the temperatures drop in the winter, including how:
- some people can be more vulnerable to the effects of the cold weather, such as under 5s, over 65s, people who have long-term physical or mental health conditions, and those living with disabilities
- to access support from Birmingham City Council, the NHS and the government
- to stay protected against a drop in temperature as cold weather can affect the body’s ability to fight off viruses and infections.
- the cold makes health conditions harder to manage – it can even affect our heart and its circulation
- staying active, vaccinations and good nutrition have positive impacts on your wellbeing.
In this webinar we discuss:
- Advice if you feel unwell
- How to stay well in winter
- Local council guidance on staying warm
- Government advice from the UK Health Security Agency on staying safe and warm
- Support with heating and energy costs plus ways to reduce energy bills
- Suggestions about staying well through activity, eating and drinking, and medication.
