Jobs and training opportunities
Lendlease, the principal contractor of the Perry Barr Residential Scheme Phase One, signed up to the ‘Birmingham Business Charter for Social Responsibility' at the outset, with an action plan in place with 32 social value targets. As part of this plan, they work in partnership with Birmingham City Council’s Employment Access Team (EAT) to promote jobs and training opportunities to local communities. These include:
- Construction skills hub - The Construction Skills Hub gave local people access to pre employment training programmes to help them gain the skills required by construction employers working on this project and other projects across the West Midlands. The scheme was funded by the West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) through the Construction Skills Fund.
- Women in construction – The Construction Hub has supported the training of women through the Women into Construction programme sponsored by the Home Builders Federation. The training delivered resulted in women working on site with Lendlease.
To find out more about these schemes and what opportunities are currently available, contact the Employment Access Team by email or visit the EAT webpage.
