Birmingham City Council Statement of Accounts: Financial Year 2019 to 2020

The Council's Draft Statement of Accounts, which includes Group Accounts, the Narrative Statement and the Draft Annual Governance Statement was signed by Rebecca Hellard, Interim Chief Finance Officer and Section 151 Officer and passed to Grant Thornton for external audit on 28 August 2020.

The final version of the Accounts has been amended for matters arising during the audit, details of which are included in the Auditor's Annual Findings Report. The Final Statement of Accounts was authorised by Audit Committee on 25 November 2020 and signed by the Chief Finance Officer, Finance and Governance and under delegated authority, by the Chair of Audit Committee, on 7 January 2021.

Conclusion of the Audit

The Council’s auditors have issued their Audit Opinion and Value for Money Conclusion on the 2019 to 2020 Statement of Accounts. They cannot formally conclude their audit and issue an audit certificate until they have completed their work auditing the Whole of Government Accounts return.
