Terms and conditions

The following terms and conditions apply to all parents or guardians of any child attending swimming lessons on our Strokes for Life programme. Please ensure you read and understand the terms and conditions below.

  1. All our swimming lessons are 30 minutes long and your child will have one lesson per week.
  2. All children must arrive no more than 10 minutes before the start of their allocated lesson. This allows time to check in at reception, get changed and be ready poolside (at the side of the swimming pool) no more than 2 minutes before the lesson begins.
  3. If your child arrives poolside more than 10 minutes after the lesson has started, they will be refused entry. This is so that lessons are not disrupted, and you will not be refunded for this lesson.
  4. All armbands and swimming aids are provided for the lesson.
  5. Correct swim wear suitable for the use of indoor pools must be worn.
  6. We do not tolerate any abusive or aggressive behaviour towards our staff. If a staff member feels threatened or offended, they have the right to refuse service.
  7. Lessons are paid for in blocks of 10.
  8. You are responsible for making payments on time. Payment for the block of 10 lessons must be received before your child’s 10th lesson begins. Failure to pay on time will result in your child automatically being removed from their class.
  9. If a child moves from a Stage lesson to the Rookie programme, there will be an increase in payment required.
  10. You need to ensure your email address and contact number provided to the leisure centre is kept up-to-date at all times.

  12. If a valid email address has not been supplied, then it is your responsibility to check with reception when the next payment is due.
  13. If payment is not received prior to the 10th lesson, the automated system will remove your child. There is no guarantee a place will remain available if this happens, and you may be put on a waiting list.
  14. If payment has not been made for your child’s lesson, we have the right to refuse them entry to the pool.
  15. If your child’s achievement requires them to move stages, a specific day or time can be requested but not guaranteed.

  17. If your child does not attend a lesson, there will be no refund.
  18. Lesson cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances will not be charged.
  19. Unexpected cancellations will be processed on the home portal and you will receive an email telling you the lesson is cancelled. If we cancel with less than 4 hours’ notice, we will phone to tell you the lesson has been cancelled.
  20. It is your responsibility to check your emails for full details of any cancellation, including the date.
  21. If your child has a long-term medical condition that will prevent them from swimming: This will then be reviewed on a case by case basis.

Movement of lessons

  • When your child is ready to progress, they will be moved by their instructor and this will be seen on the home portal and via email.
  • Move your child up to a new stage can be done on the home portal or at reception when collecting and purchasing your child’s certificate.
  • You will be able to see the days and times available for the stage your child needs.
  • Reception staff and the swim coordinator have the right to refuse to move a child up a stage if they do not appear on the mover’s screen.
  • If there is no availability for your child’s stage, their lessons will be frozen and they will be put on a waiting list until a place becomes available.
  • You can request to move your child to a different day or time by asking at reception. We will move your child if we have availability.

Medical conditions

It is vital that all medical conditions are reported to the swimming Instructors and management. It is your responsibility to ensure that this information is passed on. We will save the details on your child’s profile.
