Resident and business engagement open until 31 March 2025: Prizes available
To start the project, we are calling on local residents and businesses to share their experiences of living and working in Tyseley and Hay Mills.
Thanks to external funding from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, we are able to conduct an in depth public engagement until 31st March 2025.
We want you to engage with us on this project - to be honest with us, tell us what your local issues are, and start a conversation!
We have already been actively attending events in the local area since August 2024, and have held in person and online informal drop ins. As well as two in person workshops, along with sessions in local schools and stalls at supermarkets.
In addition our projects wonderful community researchers who are from the local area have been going to local community, sports, and faith groups to talk about the project, conduct interviews with residents, and promote our initial surveys to get a good understanding of the local landscape, and translate the surveys for residents who do not speak English.
Currently we have 4 critical surveys open that will be essential to us getting the understanding we need to plan for positive change. There is also an additional small business survey which is open till March 2025.
Prize Draw!
Thanks to the project being funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund we are offering a prize draw of £100 and two gold annual Alton Towers Tickets across all the surveys listed below.
Each survey is worth one point - this does not include the deep dive.
The more surveys you complete the greater your chance of winning in the draw in March 2025!
Liveable Neighbourhoods short survey
Completing this shortened survey will give us a good overview of the accessibility issues in the area - across a range of topics. These are critical to delivering liveable neighbourhoods.
Liveable Neighbours digital engagement survey
The information from these surveys is critical to be able to plan and deliver the change that is desperately needed in many areas of the city. As the city and the Tyseley and Hay Mills ward has a high young population it is essential that as we understand the needs of young people - to make sure future neighbourhoods deliver what they will need.
Through the UKSPF the we have obtained funding to begin to develop a proof of concept digital engagement tool to do just this. This short survey is aimed at people with an interest in digital technology and is asks what sorts of digital tools does we need to use if it wants to engage local young people better going forward.
We want local residents interested in helping us develop this tool as to provide their phone number through the form. In February or March 2025 we can test the tool with these residents.
What you can expect
We will not phone you as part of this project.
During the testing phase questions at infrequent intervals will be sent. This will be through a group that will be setup based on the list of phone numbers we receive - similar to a group WhatsApp message.
The tool will be designed to ask this group questions by message. The questions will be relevant to the core themes of this project, and aims to get a conversation going with individuals registered based on these themes.
Your phone number will only be shared with the Council and its appointed development partner for the sole purpose of this project. For more information, view our privacy policy.
During this test any information that you supply in answering the questions will be collated and used. This is to provide us with a deeper understanding of the area under the themes of the project, whilst testing the function of the tool as it is developed.
The tool will test the use of Artificial Intelligence to collate key themes from these conversations that we will use in planning and developing the strategy, delivery plan, and toolkit.
Liveable Neighbourhoods survey: a deep dive look
If you are really keen and passionate about the area and making a positive change for the future you can complete our deep dive survey!
This survey is structured under the 11 core themes of the project and is designed so that you can comment on themes interest you the most.
You can fill out as much, or as little, as you like. There is an option to end the survey at the end of each section or simply move on to the next theme that sparks your interest.
If you fully complete this survey, which is worth 4 points by itself, you will quadruple your chance of winning in the price draw!
Tyseley and Hay Mills housing survey - coming 2 January 2025
Quality affordable housing is the bedrock of a good and well lived life. It provides shelter, a safe place for people to retreat, raise a family, express yourself, socialise, and build dreams and aspirations.Crucially it helps sustain local services and facilities.
It is essential to provide local housing that reduces the need for frequent travel to visit friends and family who still live in the area. Without enough choices locally, people may have to move away, leading to more back-and-forth travel.
We have partnered with Arc 4 Housing Consultancy to run a local housing need survey for the Tyseley and Hay Mills area. This will be early in the new year and run until the 31 March.
The survey will help us understand what the local needs are for the future in terms, such as:
- housing design
- number of bedrooms
- tenure
- type needed.
You can access the housing survey when it is made live on 2 January 2025.
Other surveys still open
While not actively promoted currently, the following surveys are still open until March 2025:
Liveable Neighbourhoods small business survey
This survey is not part of the prize draw.
We aim to understand the challenges that businesses have within the local shopping centres and explore ways to improve them. We also seek to improve pedestrian access to local shopping centres for residents who currently feel unable to do so, and in doing so support the future prosperity and growth of these centres.
Children and young adults survey
We need to understand the views of children and young adults in the area and they can help us with this by completing the following surveys:
