Arranging your visit
Your school is welcome to visit any time during library opening hours.
We ask that all schools and groups register their visit in advance so that we can manage visitor numbers and ensure your group has good access to the stock and resources they are intending to make use of. We will tell you if other schools/groups have already booked for the same day/time.
You should allow 4 weeks notice where possible.
Your visit is not booked in until you receive a confirmation email.
If your visit includes borrowing library books, ensure your group has their library cards with them.
If your group has children aged under 16 years old who have never joined any Birmingham Library, the parent or responsible person needs to complete the self-registration form. This will generate a ‘SelfReg’ number. To get your library card, you will need to give this number to library staff.
The registration form is for all ages and can be used by anyone who needs to join Birmingham Libraries. Children aged 16 years and over will need to provide name and address identification. When completing the form, the parent or the responsible person fills in the guarantor details.
