Symptoms you should look out for

It is important to understand the symptoms of dementia so that you know what to look for, and when to talk to your GP.

Common dementia symptoms include:

  • memory problems
  • difficulty making decisions or solving problems
  • difficulty following a conversation or finding the right word for something
  • getting confused about where you are
  • problems judging distances such as on stairs
  • problems seeing objects
  • changes in mood or emotions

Alzheimer’s Society has a symptoms checklist to help you start a conversation with your GP or other health professional.
