BVS support for schools
Birmingham Virtual School's role is to promote educational attainment of previously looked after children (PLAC) through the provision of information and advice to their parents, educators and others.
We support Early Years settings and schools by:
- offering advice and information in respect of individual previously looked after children
- offering general advice and information to improve awareness of the vulnerability and needs of previously looked-after children
- promoting good practice on identifying and meeting children’s needs
- offering guidance on effective use of the Pupil Premium Plus (PPP) funding
To offer the correct support to parents and schools, the Advisor for PLAC can use:
- their local knowledge and skills
- the knowledge and skills of the Birmingham Virtual School staff across the team
- the expertise of other professionals, for example educational psychologists
We can also use our established relationships with other professionals from:
- SEN
- School Admissions
- Exclusion Teams
- Local Authority Inclusion Team
- Adoption Team
