What we are going to do in Birmingham
Our partnerships approach has been carefully designed to respond to current limitations and challenges while, at the same time, taking existing, ongoing work into account.
We know that the number of people who commit serious violence is relatively small, but their impact can have a devastating effect on individuals, children, communities and our city.
By working to prevent individuals becoming involved in violence, we can make a real difference.
The ‘Birmingham Serious Violence Response Plan’ is the long-term commitment by the partnership, individuals and communities to prevent the physical and psychological damage that violence can cause for:
- individuals
- families
- our communities
- wider society
We have taken a balanced approach to our response:
- working together to understand the problem
- treating serious violence as a disease
- understanding the root causes we need to tackle to prevent violence happening in the future
The response plan sits alongside existing strategies, toolkits and programmes that will drive the wider Birmingham partnership response.
