Research the Archive, Heritage and Photography collections

You can request access to individual items from the collections through an advance booking system. If there is something you want to see, check the online catalogue for information. You can then contact us for advice on access arrangements and to book. Email archives.appointments@birmingham.gov.uk.

We must allow time for safe acclimatisation of storage items before your visit and normally need at least 24 hours' notice. Note that we may not be able to give you direct access to some items because they are too fragile or for data protection reasons.

The Wolfson Centre for Archival Research provides a light, welcoming environment to view the items you have requested. Related published materials are also available to help with your research. We recommend reserving a study space in the Wolfson Centre prior to your visit.
