Homeless advice

The following organisations offer housing support and homelessness advice. Some receive funding from us to offer floating support and supported housing.

Advice for people aged 25 years or under

St Basils Youth Hub

St Basils works with Birmingham Children's Trust. They offer full support for young people aged 16 to 25 who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.

They help them to:

  • find and keep a home
  • grow their confidence
  • develop their skills
  • increase opportunities
  • prevent homelessness

Domestic Abuse Housing Solution and Support Service

This service is a partnership between Cranstoun and Birmingham City Council's housing solutions team.

The service provides homelessness support to all victims of domestic abuse. It also provides a separate safe space only for women and their children at risk of homelessness, or being homeless due to domestic abuse.

Domestic Abuse Safety and Wellbeing Hub

The Domestic Abuse Safety and Wellbeing Hub is commissioned by the council's Adult Social Care and Health directorate.

The hub provides a holistic approach to supporting women suffering from abuse. It offers a range of prevention and crisis support services.

Women can access the service by dropping into the hub.

Support Centre: SIFA Fireside

The Support Centre is for vulnerable adults aged 25 years and over.

Housing advice is available Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 12:45pm.

They offer welfare services, including:

  • meals
  • showers
  • clothing to those in need
  • benefits advice
  • health surgeries
  • housing advice

Midland Heart

Midland Heart offers floating support and supported housing, including for homeless people.

Route 2 Wellbeing

Route 2 Wellbeing provides links to housing advice and support services that can offer a range of accommodation solutions for people who are homeless or threatened with homelessness.

Street Support Network

Street Support Network is an online advice resource that offers advice related to homelessness.

Their website has links to statutory and community-based support organisations in Birmingham.

The Health Xchange

The Health Xchange is committed to helping homeless people get the health care that they need.

The Health Xchange provides responsive NHS General Practice (GP) services. These are designed to meet the needs of people who are homeless or in unstable housing.

They also help those who have come to Birmingham as refugees or to seek asylum.

The Salvation Army

The Salvation Army offers supported accommodation for those aged 21 and over.

The Waiting Room

The Waiting Room provides links to housing and homelessness support services.

They are approved by Birmingham Public Health and the NHS for Birmingham and Solihull.

Their services can be used by people of all ages across Birmingham.
