Be Active scheme

The award-winning scheme offers a diverse range of free activities for all Birmingham residents to enjoy.

Activities include swimming, group exercise classes and gym sessions at certain times during the day.

To become a member of be active you will need two forms of ID with your name and address on. We will accept the following:

  • current leisure card
  • Council Tax bill – paid to Birmingham City Council
  • utility bill
  • tenancy agreement
  • driving licence
  • bank statement
  • benefit statement
  • medical card

For customers living in residential hostels or similar communal accommodation, including people seeking asylum, a letter on official letterhead confirming residential status and signed by the manager of the accommodation is acceptable.

A free gym induction is included as part of the Be Active scheme, an induction is required for all customers prior to using the gym.

Where people are coming through the Homes for Ukraine scheme, the hosts can write a letter - including full postal address - signed and stating that the Ukrainian guest is living at their home.

Passport to Leisure

A Passport To Leisure (PTL) card entitles the holder to discounts of up to 20% off most activities at council-run leisure centres, wellbeing centres and swimming pools.
