Apply to rent a garage

You can rent a council garage if you are:

  • aged 18 or over
  • living or working in Birmingham

We have garages across the city in a range of sizes. They are at least 5m long and 1.8m high. Our garages are 2.1m wide at the door and 2.3m wide inside.

You can use our garages for storage as well as parking your vehicle off-road.

The cost of renting a garage from 1 April 2024 to March 2025 is:

  • council tenants and leaseholders who pay ground rent to the council: £12.14 a week. VAT is included if renting more than 2 garages.
  • everyone else: £14.57 a week (including VAT)

If you’re interested in renting a garage, you can read our terms and conditions and then fill in our application form.

Our terms and conditions have been given a Crystal Mark by the Plain English Campaign. This means they should be easy to read.

How to rent a garage from us

We are starting a 5 year programme to review the condition of the garages we manage. We manage over 600 garages, and many of them need repairs and investment. Some garages may be repurposed, so some are not available for renting.

Once you have signed in, you will arrive at your account page.
