Overview
Birmingham City Council, Environmental Health, utilise a third party company, Waste Investigations, Enforcement and Support Ltd (the contractor) to undertake fixed penalty enforcement and respond to incidents of low level environmental crime and anti-social behaviour on behalf of the council. In addition, authorised officers from Environmental Health may also undertake similar work.
Under the contract, personal data is collected, processed and stored by the contractor on behalf of the council. Officers will process this data if issues are raised by the individual about the encounter on the street and/or if the matter is referred to prosecution. Similar data collected by council officers is stored on computers and processed if the matter is subject to complaint or prosecution.
