- About the park
-
Brookvale Park is based around what used to be called Lower Witton Reservoir, which was used to supply water to the inhabitants of Birmingham in the 19th century.
It opened as Erdington’s first park in 1909 and for several years the lake was used as an open-air swimming pool and became a popular attraction.
Nowadays, the lake is a haven for different kinds of recreational pursuits with sailing, canoeing and fishing taking place on this scenic and tranquil water.
A small body of land called Swan Island features on the lake and, as the name suggests, it attracts the graceful birds and other wild fowl in abundance.
Around the lake is an area of grass and woodland and a well-defined path spans its circumference, making it an ideal location for a stroll, jogging or cycling.
There are also a good range of sporting and play facilities at the park adding to its broad appeal.
