Battery Park is in New York City. It is 25 acres on the southern tip of Manhattan Island. It faces New York Harbour. It was named after the artillery batteries that were there to protect the settlement behind them. It also has a fort called Castle Clinton in it.
This evocative picture demonstrates changing times, as we see a horse drawn carriage next to the tram on the over-pass.
