Statement on Paul Dransfield
Paul Dransfield has announced he is set to leave Birmingham City Council after 10 years, and a previous 23 years in the Midlands.
Paul has a distinguished history of service with the council including working as Deputy Chief Executive. Since early 2016 he has been working in a hybrid role on areas mainly in transition, most of which will now be fitted into the permanent BCC structure or taken on by the West Midlands Combined Authority. He also represents the council on a number of council- related companies or joint ventures as part of his role.
The work on major projects for BCC will become part of the newly formed projects division of the council’s Economy Directorate, led by Waheed Nazir. The work on the West Midlands Combined Authority ’s Investment plan and the HS2 Growth Strategy will be incorporated into the permanent management structure of the Combined Authority.
Interim Chief Executive Stella Manzie commented “The visible impact of Paul’s contribution to Birmingham and to the council can be seen all over the city, not least in Grand Central where Paul played a major role in the project management of the development. Paul has held a number of senior roles in the council and we wish him well.”
He will leave the council on 31st July 2017, providing a suitable period to complete handover arrangements including representation on relevant companies.
As a consequence of the review of the senior management of Birmingham City Council which commenced in January 2017, the post of Strategic Director Major Projects and Programmes, held by Paul Dransfield is to be deleted.
