Cabinet member wants to red card domestic abuse
Statement from Cllr Tristan Chatfield, Cabinet Member for Social Inclusion, Community Safety and Equalities on domestic abuse during the World Cup.
Cllr Tristan Chatfield, Cabinet Member for Social Inclusion, Community Safety and Equalities, said: “While we are all looking forward to cheering on England during the World Cup, hoping for lots of goals and that they may return with the trophy, sadly there is evidence to show incidence of domestic abuse rise when England lose.
“Recent research revealed that reported incidents can increase by as much as 38%. Violence against any one is totally unacceptable, so we want to show a red card to such behaviour, not just during this tournament but for good.”
