Claiming benefits
Benefits are payments made by the government to help people with specific needs, including those who live with a disability, which could be caused by dementia.
As a carer, you may also be entitled to claim certain benefits.

Support for unpaid carers
Unpaid carers can be anyone who provides unpaid, on-going care and emotional support to another person.
Birmingham Carers Hub
Birmingham Carers Hub offers support to those caring for someone with dementia through 3 delivery partners who together form the Dementia Carers Hub:

The hub offers a wide range of support and services for unpaid carers including, information and advice, statutory carer's assessments, and much more.

Having a paid carer visit a person with dementia in their own home can make a huge difference with day-to-day living.
It can help them stay living independently in their own home.

Carer's assessment
If you regularly care for a family member or friend, you may have a right to a statutory assessment under the Care Act 2014.

Birmingham Carers Hub - emergency support
Birmingham Carers Hub offers emergency back-up care, known as carers emergency response service (CERS).
To access the emergency support, you will need to be a carer registered with Birmingham Carers Hub.
