Mental health support

Support and activities for parents

Approachable Parenting is an organisation focused on helping families by providing support. They offer various forms of assistance, including parenting programs (currently focusing on pregnancy to 3 years), one-on-one help from their sparklers (parent peer mentors), doula services (professionals who provide emotional, physical, and informational support to mothers before, during, and after childbirth), counselling, and relevant workshops. Additionally, they have perinatal peer support workers within NHS mental health teams.

Community support and groups

NHS Birmingham Women's and Children's Foundation Trust (BWCT)

BWCT provides non-violent resistance parent-carer resources for families as part of the #YouveBeenMissed campaign. The resources are for you to do with your child or young person to help support their emotional well-being.

In Our Place

In Our Place run the Solihull Approach Course all about understanding your teenager's brain (short course) the Solihull Approach supports mental health and wellbeing in parents, children, schools, older adults and high stress workplaces through an evidence based model in trainings, online courses and resources.

A Father's Child Services CIC

A Father's Child Services CIC Young people are currently running counselling, mentoring and workshop programmes remotely.

GBNFC Children’s Centre

GBNFC covers the Selly Oak District of Birmingham (Billesley, Bournville, Selly Oak and Brandwood Wards). Children's centre delivering fun activities and family support for children under five and their families.

Bring it on Brum! is a programme funded by the Department for Education designed for families in Birmingham to help children, young people and their parents have fulfilling, active, fun-filled and healthy school holidays.

Kids Matter

Kids Matter run accessible and effective parenting programmes to parents and carers of children under 12. They come alongside families and equip them with practical parenting tools and ideas to help build strong families. The programme empowers parents, as well as offering friendship and community.
