WM SME Grant Programme
Birmingham and Solihull update
The WMGP is now fully committed for SMEs based in Birmingham and Solihull and we already have more applications than available funding.
Therefore, the programme is now closed for applications from Birmingham and Solihull.
We anticipate new funding will be available after 1 April 2025. If you are interested, email: wmgp@birmingham.gov.uk.
Cannock Chase and Shropshire areas update
As we are nearing the end of the programme, any applications seeking funding will need to be investment ready projects and will only be considered if they can be financially completed by February 2025.
The UKSPF
After the UK left the European Union, the UK government committed itself to provide funds to invest in local priorities and target funding where it is most needed. This led to the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF), which was established to create pride in place and increase life chances by investing in local communities, supporting local businesses, people and skills.
The UKSPF is a central pillar of the UK government’s Levelling Up agenda and provides £2.6 billion of funding for local investment by March 2025.
Funded by UKSPF, Birmingham City Council and partners launched the West Midlands Small to Medium Enterprise (SME) Grant Programme (WMGP).
The WMGP is a support package designed to help SMEs based in the Birmingham City Council, Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council, Cannock Chase Council and Shropshire Council local authority areas.
