Help with pets
If you are struggling to afford to look after your pets, there is help available.
Some charities have schemes available to help you to pay for your pets’ healthcare:
- check eligibility with the PDSA
- see the RSPCA veterinary financial assistance available in your local area
- financial assistance available for neutering with Cats Protection
Birmingham Dogs Home is available to give support and advice over the phone to help you and discuss your individual situation if you are worried about providing for your pet.
If you need help with feeding your pet, some foodbanks do include pet food. Alternatively, you can talk to any of the charities mentioned on this page.
If you decide to consider rehoming your pet, support and guidance is available at these pets' charities:
- giving up a pet you are unable to care for with the RSPCA
- handing over your dog to the Birmingham Dogs Home
- thinking about rehoming your cat with Cats Protection
