Public transport

On 21 October 2021 the council adopted the Birmingham Local Transport Plan 2031.

The principles in the plan include:

  • reallocating road space
  • prioritising active travel in local neighbourhoods
  • managing demand through parking measures

Transport for West Midlands (TfWM), part of the West Midlands Combined Authority, is responsible for public transport across the city.

The TfWM website provides:

  • details of routes and timetables
  • the latest information on consultations for public transport improvements - such as Sprint and improvements to railway stations
