Story inspiration

Does this give you any ideas for a spooky story? Perhaps one of our archivists opens the scrapbook and touches the piece of cloth unaware of the curse…. Perhaps there are other scary things buried underneath the library or lurking in the old books in our collections? In Inkheart by Cornelia Funke books literally come to life when Mo reads them – characters come out of the book and into the real world. Or what about writing a story with a curse in? In The Crowfield Curse by Pat Walsh Will rescues a hobgoblin and is drawn into a secret about a mythical being, doomed by an ancient curse.

There are also some other great real life stories about dead bodies being dug up – like ‘resurrectionists’ Burke and Hare’ who stole corpses to sell to doctors at Edinburgh Medical School to dissect as teaching aids for their students. The demand for dead bodies was so great that Burke and Hare stopped being grave robbers and became murderers!
