Reading group
The Birmingham Mobile Library Service has an Adult Reading Group. They meet at Library of Birmingham on a quarterly basis. Books are selected using Birmingham libraries vast selection of stock. All Reading Group members fill out a Review Sheet for each book. The reviews are then compiled in a booklet ready for the next meeting. The group are invited to meet and chat to each other about the books they’ve read and are asked for thoughts on what to read next.
We have a blog where reviews from past and present can be reviewed.
Over the years, the group has been involved with some wonderful events such as the Independent Prize for Fiction which was held in London. Here they met other Book Groups from across the country. This year the group are reading for the 2020 International Booker Prize, working with the Reading Agency to read and review ‘Hurricane Season by the Mexican author Fernanda Melchor, translated by Sophie Hughes.
Anyone can join at any of our Mobile Library stops across the city.
