Emily and Jen Dance for Deeron

The most thrilling aspect of the dance for me is the magic contained within it, and it was pondering the magic that sparked the story of Emily and Jen Dance for Deeron. By copying the dance Emily and Jen discover their own very special magic power, and are transported to an enchanted forest where they become the key to saving a magic herd of deer led by a half-man half-deer character called Deeron.

Just before the book came out I was lucky enough to become one of the 'Faces' of the new Library of Birmingham. This was lucky because it enabled me to bring the story to life through dance, drama and music workshops at the Centre for the Child. Later, support from the Heritage Lottery Fund meant that the workshops could travel and widen the participation by including people of all ages.

I have taught the Abbots Bromley Horn Dance from Staffordshire to Surrey and even as far as Sweden. We had a great day in October 2011 dancing in Centenary Square where brave members of the public actually joined in!
