Reporting concerns
If you see something suspicious, you can phone:
- the police on 101
- the UK Modern Slavery Helpline on 08000 121 700
- the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
If you suspect someone is a potential survivor, you may wish to support them to phone
- The Salvation Army (24-hour confidential referral helpline) 0800 808 3733
- the Modern Slavery Helpline on 0800 0121 700.
If someone is in immediate danger, phone 999.
You can also submit a report online to the Modern Slavery Helpline. You can read guidance on how to report modern slavery on GOV.UK's website.
However, bear in mind that adults still have agency over their own decisions, despite being a survivor of modern slavery. Reporting an adult to the police without their consent may carry risks for them, particularly if they are fearful of authorities.
It may be more helpful to signpost someone to a specialist third sector organisation who can discuss their rights, entitlements and options in a confidential setting. For example, Hope for Justice or SIFA Fireside.

If you have any concerns about the safety and or welfare of a child or young person, phone the Children's Advice and Support Service (CASS) on 0121 303 1888 or email cass@birmingham.gov.uk.
