I've lost my dog
Losing a dog can be very worrying, but it's important to act quickly.
Microchip details
It's essential that your dog's microchip details are up to date. This can be done online or by phone.

Next steps
Report your dog missing online
Alternatively, phone Birmingham Dog Wardens on 0121 303 6007.
- The dogs we collect are now boarded at several kennels through Worcester Regulatory Services. If we have collected your dog, we will provide further details on how to pay the claim fees and get your pet back.
- We do not collect dogs out of office hours.
- Check local social media sites and put up a post including a photo and details of your dog. Many animals are reunited with their owners this way.
- Contact local vets, as your dog may have been handed in.
- Phone the RSPCA on 0300 123 8585 as injured lost dogs are sometimes taken there.
- Contact local animal rescue groups in your area including Birmingham Dogs Home, although they no longer kennel strays that we have collected.
- Phone the police on 101 - they may have a record of sightings.
- If your dog has been stolen, you must phone the police and get a crime reference number.
- Phone the other councils close to your home, if you live on the outskirts of Birmingham.
- Make a poster with a good photograph and take to local places such as shops, pet shops and local vets.
Make sure that you give accurate advice of what your dog looks like. Pedigree dogs are generally easy to recognise, but crossbreeds can be difficult.
