Religious Education in Birmingham's schools
All non-faith community, Academy, foundation and voluntary aided schools in Birmingham (schools without a religious character) must provide Religious Education (RE) that meets the requirements of the Birmingham Agreed Syllabus for Religious Education.
Voluntary Aided schools with a religious character normally follow a Diocesan syllabus or one agreed by the governing body.
Both faith and non-faith schools must also hold collective worship for all pupils every day, as agreed by the governors of each school.
RE and collective worship are intended for all pupils, however, parents have the right to withdraw their child from all or part of either.
