How long will it take?
Inspection
Once you have paid your application fee, we will arrange for the area outside your property to be inspected. You do not need to be home when the inspection takes place. You can contact us to ask for the inspector to phone you before visiting.
Once an inspection has been carried out your application will only be open for 1 year. After this time has expired your record will be closed. If you still require a dropped kerb after this time you will need to reapply.
Quotes
After the inspection has taken place, we expect to provide you with a quote within 28 working days. If additional works are required, such as trees, utility apparatus or street furniture need moving, this will increase the time taken to provide your quote.
Once you have received your quote, you have 2 months to accept and pay in full from the date printed on the letter for the work to be scheduled. After this time the quote will no longer be valid and you will need to reapply, including payment again of the application fee.
Installation
Due to current demand installation of a standard dropped kerb will take at least 16 weeks to be completed from receiving full payment of an accepted quote. Non-standard works i.e. those with tree, utility works or re-siting of street furniture such as street lights or road signs, will take over 20 weeks. It is unlikely these timescales can be accelerated.
There is a minimum 16 weeks lead time for BT and Virgin Media to carry out their actual works from when they receive payment. For further confirmation of their timescales, you will need contact the relevant utility provider directly for their costing and inform us with the details. This will enable us to co-ordinate the works between the contractors.
