Localism in Birmingham
Birmingham City Council is firmly committed to building stronger communities and increasing its focus on neighbourhood priorities and needs. Citizens and communities must be able to participate in setting local priorities, influencing local service delivery and they must have opportunities to contribute and take action themselves. Building stronger communities is essential to the health of our city.
We have developed a framework to guide our work on this priority and more recently have produced the policy statement (White Paper) Working Together in Birmingham’s Neighbourhoods'. This sets out a number of commitments which we hope will improve neighbourhood working in general and help those areas interested in creating new neighbourhood organisations or parish councils.
This work is championed by Cllr Thompson, Cabinet Member for Homes and Neighbourhoods.
