Young carers

A young carer is a child or young adult who helps a family member or close friend. They support them with everyday tasks that the person can no longer manage due to illness or disability

A network of local independent charities provides support to carers and the people they care for.

Action for Children work with and support young carers across the UK. They offer practical and emotional support to ensure young carers enjoy and achieve, just like their peers.

Young Carers Birmingham

Young Carers Birmingham offers a range of confidential support for young carers including access to counselling, telephone support, and opportunities to take an activity break, make friends and have some fun!

Forward Carers

Forward carers is made up a group of not-for-profit organisations, led by Midland Mencap who have come together with the mission of making a real difference to the lives of carers.

Their aim is simple – to improve the physical and mental wellbeing of carers, young and old, including parent carers, so that families stay healthier and happier together, for longer.
