- ‘Fifteen minutes of fame’ – old days/nostalgia talk, including humorous anecdotes of when Mum Kathleen won a date with Liberace, and own claim to fame as a trapeze artist in Skeggie in1962, performing at the same holidays camps as Ringo before he joined the Beatles.
Interactive – inviting the group to share their memories and anecdotes from the past. - Cats and kittens – a cat care talk, starting with a quiz to see how much the group already know about cats – and then maybe dispelling a few myths. A volunteer with Cats Protection and Team Cat Rescue for several years. Roles have included homing officer, home visitor, fosterer, fund-raiser, education speaker, and providing animal-interest stories for the Press and websites. Aim is to entertain and promote an understanding of cats and their welfare needs with photographs, props and stories. Also promoting the aims of cat welfare organisations - especially around neutering. Everyone invited to share their own ‘cat tales’ and ask questions.
- ‘The story behind the story’ – my years in journalism and the stories covered – scoops – from murderers to mistresses - the stories behind the headlines. How I meet people and encourage them to tell me their story. Have worked for the Daily News, Sutton Observer group, and currently write human and animal-interest stories for women’s magazines.
Talk can cover competitions I’ve won, including holidays in Morocco, Greece and Paris. Blown-up laminated ‘cuttings’ act as props.
