Found guilty in absence of 15 offences relating to conditions found at Watan Halal Meat, 564 Coventry Road, Birmingham on three separate occasions. The premises was dirty and poorly maintained, there were mouse droppings in the rear room and corridor areas, meat was not protected against contamination, there was an inadequate number of washbasins and hand cleaning and drying materials. The hand wash basin to the butchery was leaking water onto the floor from a hole in the skirting board. The Company failed to comply with four Hygine Improvement Notices requiring they address these conditions. There were no procedures in place based on HACCP principles, mouse droppings were found at floor/wall junctions and there were rat droppings in the rear yard.
