Offence details
13 offences relating to conditions at Quddsi Supermarket, 560 Coventry Road, Birmingham on four separate dates between May 2023 and May 2024. Food was placed on the market for sale which was past its use by date. The premises was not kept clean and maintained in good repair or condition, the seal around the sinks in the staff toilet had deteriorated and had dirt accumulating on the seal and around the taps. The floor tiles in the staff toilet area had accumulations of dirt. There were no permanent procedures based on HACCP. Food handlers were not supervised, instructed and/or trained in food hygiene matters. Rodent droppings were found on shelves and flooring in the walk in chiller storing ready to eat vegetables and fruit. Dead insects were found on shelves storing flours, rice, grains and spices. Pest proofing was extremely poor and the structure of the premises was unsuitable allowing access for pests. A large number of pre packed food was contaminated with mice droppings and some had been gnawed by mice.
