University of Cambridge iDiscoverThis song/hymn seems to be linked with another hymn titled "I Am But a Stranger Here" by the Rev. Thomas R, Taylor, published in 1836 and set to an original composition by Sir Arthur Sullivan in 1872. It seems that Edwin Flood may have set the lyrics of "I Am But a Stranger Here" to his own original composition around the same time. The only firm date linked to Heaven Is My Home appears above in the link to the details of the sheet published by Robert Cocks & Co, (London) in 1867. With the current information it's impossible to determine if "Heaven Is My Home" is based upon "I'm But A Stranger Here" or vice-versa.
