Carte de visite portrait marked as 'Mrs George Dawson'. If so then this is a portrait of Susan Fanny Dawson, nee Crompton, whom George Dawson married on 24 August 1846. She bore two children by him, Rachel Ann and Bernard.
In 1845 Susan authored "Stories For Sunday Afternoons" (pub: John Chapman, London), which is still available online as e-txt and as print-on-demand. She also authored "Hymns and Songs for Sunday Schools and Families" (2nd ed. published 1856 by John Alfred Langford, Birmingham). Both these titles were published under her maiden name, Crompton.
