Rev Arnold Pinchard

Rev arnold pinchard photograph

Postcard from 1905 featuring a mechanical reproduction of a Cabinet card portrait of the Rev Arnold Pinchard.

In 1896 while at St. Judes, Tonk Street (now Hill Street) in Central Birmingham (near the current St. Jude's Passage), Pinchard set up a 'club for young men' in an attempt to address the problem of street gangs, in particular the 'Peaky Blinder' gang. Inscription on reverse of postcard indicates the image is from the "scott" series of Bromide photos, indicating the original was probably printed on gelatin bromide photographic paper.

Original cabinet card by Scott Russell & Co, London.

Cabinet card typical dimensions - 110mm x 170mm, 4.5in x 6.5in
