A Day of Action for Change into Action on Friday 2 December

Councillor Sharon Thompson, Cabinet Member for Housing and Homelessness, asks everyone to join with her in doing 3 posts on social media to promote Change into Action on Friday 2 December

As a Council every winter in the run up to Christmas we promote Change into Action, an alternative giving scheme supporting specialist charities and street teams helping rough sleepers. Change into Action is a partnership between Birmingham City Council, the Mayor of the West Midlands and the West Midlands Combined Authority aimed at addressing rough sleeping.

Over the years thanks to your generosity Change into Action has helped to change the lives of hundreds of people in Birmingham sleeping rough. But this year we’d like to do something slightly different. So, I’m asking you to join with me in promoting a Day of Action for Change into Action on Friday 2 December.

The ask is very simple - for you to share 3 or more posts about Change into Action across your social media channels on Friday 2 December. To make it as easy as possible for you we’ve written a variety of posts which you can simply copy and paste together with two images you can use. Alternatively, if you wish, you can write your own posts but please use the hashtag #ChangeIntoAction so we can monitor posts on the day.

I’d also like to ask you to consider donating directly to Change into Action on the day. I know that the cost of living crisis means that money is very tight this year and that people are really struggling. However, if you are able to donate anything, however small, it would mean a great deal of difference to changing the lives of people sleeping rough. Every penny you give goes to helping organisations like St Basils, Sifa Fireside and Trident Reach. No money goes to the Council, the Mayor or the West Midlands Combined Authority.

I’m sure that like me you see people who present as homeless and want to help. But there is a better way than giving to people directly as you don’t know where the money goes. That’s why I support Change into Action.  So please join with me this year in sharing three or more posts on your social media channels on Friday 2 December and consider donating directly to Change into Action. And don’t forget if you see or know about anyone sleeping rough you can report it to Streetlink where specialist help and support is available day and night.
